Export Control Forms and Documents
- Export Controls Assessment Questionnaire
-
The Export Controls Assessment Questionnaire (DOC) can be used by any member of the university community in assessing U.S. export control issues that may apply to their project. For those activities related to research projects, the faculty/staff member and/or principal investigator (PI) for a research project is the person most qualified to provide information necessary to determine whether the activities are subject to restrictions imposed by export control laws.
- Export Control Guidance Sheet
-
The Export Control Guidance Sheet (PDF) guidance briefly defines exports, helps researchers comply with export control laws and GW policy, and provides contact information for researchers if university activities trigger an export control review.
- Nuclear Research Checklist
-
The Nuclear Research Checklist (DOC) assists the university in assessing whether nuclear-related research activities will involve any technology, services, software, or commodities that are subject to U.S. export control laws, including Department of Energy’s Part 810 Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Part 110 Regulations, Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR), or the Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Technology Control Plan (TCP)
-
A Technology Control Plan (TCP) (PDF) is a customized management plan which outlines the procedures in place to prevent access to export-controlled items, technologies, data, or information by unauthorized individuals.
The TCP will include a description of the export-controlled information, a physical and informational security plan, and personnel screening and briefing procedures. All project personnel will be required to read, understand, and sign the TCP prior to working on the project. All project personnel must also sign the Briefing and Certification on the Handling and Protection of Export Controlled Information. The PI must notify GW’s export control compliance team of personnel changes so that the TCP can be updated and approved.
