Online RCR Training via CITI

Responsible Conduct of Research

If you are completing Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training to fulfill a National Science Foundation (NSF) requirement, it is recommended that you use the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) online training system. You will create a CITI account for yourself as a GW student, then go to the RCR section, and complete the training.

The CITI training takes approximately five hours and includes discussion of the following topics:

• Research Misconduct
• Data Acquisition and Management
• Responsible Authorship and Publication
• Peer Review
• Mentoring
• Conflicts of Interest and Commitment
• Collaborative Relationships

Logging into the CITI Online Training System

  • Visit and click the “Register” button if it is your first time accessing the site
  • Register using your email address
  • CITI Program’s registration guide and video may be useful for more information

Documenting Completion of CITI RCR Training

Upon completion of your chosen course, please print out and provide the CITI RCR course certificate documenting your completion of all RCR modules listed below to:

  • your principal investigator (PI); and
  • a copy to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and Outreach, Office of the Vice President for Research, 1922 F Street NW, 4th Floor, Washington, DC 20052, or by e-mail to [email protected]
